Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak’s incoming digital event will be hosted by producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and game director Yoshitake Suzuki, with proceedings due to begin on Twitch next Tuesday, 9th August, at 3pm BST/7am PDT. Capcom has already teased a little of what’s to come in August’s Title Update 1, with the Seething Bazelguese and Lucent Nargacuga (from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate respectively) both confirmed as new monster additions to the line-up, while the Forlorn Arena will be added as a new locale....
ORIGINAL STORY: The Russian language version of the Mortal Kombat movie trailer has leaked online. The clip spotted on reddit is the trailer due to be officially released later today by Warner Bros. I suspect it’s not long for this world. The video shows off a raft of popular Mortal Kombat characters, including Lui Kang, Sub Zero, Scorpion and Sonja Blade ripping each other to shreds. We see glimpses of the likes of Shang Tsung, Goro, Mileena and even Noob Saibot....

A while back now, Google Arts and Culture released Blob Opera, a virtual choir designed by Google’s artist in residence, David Li. This virtual choir isn’t just something you listen to, it’s a toy with the tactile charm of a Google doodle. On screen, you have four blobs that with their round eyes and big mouths remind me of Rayman’s best friend Globox. Each of them represents a voice in a choir - bass, tenor, mezzo-soprano and soprano....
Bloomberg said this project was in development at an unnanounced new studio created within its little-known San Diego-based Visual Arts Service Group, but was handed to Naughty Dog after Sony had a change of mind. Meanwhile, Days Gone 2 isn’t happening. Bloomberg said developer Sony Bend unsuccessfully pitched the sequel in 2019. “Although the first game had been profitable, its development had been lengthy and critical reception was mixed, so a Days Gone 2 wasn’t seen as a viable option,” Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported....
NieR: Replicant, if you’re unfamiliar, is an enhanced version of the original NieR - which was available in two different forms when it released in Japan back in April 2010. The PS3 version - of which ver.1.22474487139 is a remaster - was known as NieR: Replicant and featured a younger main character, while the Xbox 360 version, NieR: Gestalt, starred an older protagonist. Set before the events of NieR: Automata (although the two games are only loosely related), NieR: Replicant tells the story of a “kind young man” who leaves his village in order to locate the famed Sealed Verses and save his terminally ill sister....

Ninja is known for streaming Fortnite and is currently the most followed channel on Twitch with over 18 million followers. After some unusual behaviour on his social media accounts, it’s left some people confused as to what exactly has happened. Yesterday, Ninja tweeted to say “big things are coming”. Those with a physical edition of Halo Infinite report that the disc will install ~15GB worth of game files - but then request players go online to download the rest. And, as we reported earlier, the campaign itself does not go live until 6pm UK time tonight - without the ability to pre-load. Disc-based games often ask for a title update before they can be played, but fans have flagged up Halo Infinite in particular as it seems clear the disc’s 15GB is not the full game....
This year is Pokémon’s 25th anniversary, and so naturally there are packs of Pokémon trading cards in McDonald’s Happy Meals to celebrate. Unfortunately, fans trying to catch ’em all are buying up every $2.49 Happy Meal available for the cards inside. And then, because people are awful, they are selling those cards on for profit. Polygon has rounded up stories from fans buying dozens and dozens of Happy Meals - so many that some McDonald’s restaurants are now limiting their purchase, as some fans are simply keeping the cards and throwing food away....

It’s made me wonder: is there a more cinematic object than an elevator? Why do they go together so well? There are any number of reasons, I think, but a few of them are both obvious and interesting. Mike Dailly, one of the founders of DMA Design (now Rockstar North), has tweeted he’s removed any GTA videos due to the strikes. “I see Rockstar are going full fuckers mode again, issuing copyright strikes to any GTA video they can find - including both my prototype videos. So now they’re trying to block all release of anyone’s work on a game - and any old development footage,” he tweeted yesterday....
It will be available for Nintendo Online Expansion Pack members from 10th December. Paper Mario 64 is the first addition to the N64 line-up as Nintendo looks to improve the service, following its rocky release on 25th October. Data miners had already looked into new additions to the service, although Paper Mario 64 wasn’t originally discovered. The likes of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Wave Race 64, Mario Party, and Super Smash Bros are expected soon....
