The Callisto Protocol, which was officially unveiled back in December 2020, is a third-person horror game set in 2320. Its action unfolds within the confines of the Black Iron prison colony on Jupiter’s moon Callisto, and - needless to say - suffocating terror and “terrifying secrets” ensue. We’ve only seen a single cinematic of The Callisto Protocol since its intriguing 2020 reveal, so it’s nice to finally, properly see the thing in action courtesy of its brand-new release date trailer - which includes a smattering of gameplay - below....

Developed by The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Little Orpheus featured a Russian rocket pilot in a humorous adventure. Understandably, Secret Mode has decided now is not the time for the game to arrive. No new release date has been set. “In light of recent world events, today’s PC and console launch for Little Orpheus will be delayed,” Secret Room wrote. “While Little Orpheus was originally released on Apple Arcade in June 2020 and does not directly reference recent world events, we recognise some of the game’s themes and content may be upsetting to players at this time....

This news follows a recent tease from creator Hideo Kojima, that showed a blanked out visage with the words “How come?” written across it. Many guessed this face was that of Léa Seydoux, and they were right as she is very much front and centre of Death Stranding 2’s (or DS2’s) announcement trailer, which you can see below. Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida stopped short of detailing what they’ll contain and when, exactly, we’ll be able to play them, although he did confirm the roguelike adventures will arrive sometime with the 6.0 series of patch updates, the first of which we’re expecting in the next month or two. On 31st May, EA announced the removal of Need for Speed Carbon (2006), Need for Speed Undercover (2008), Need for Speed Shift (2009), Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed (2011) and Need for Speed The Run (2011) from digital storefronts. In-game stores have also closed. EA said this move, which was announced and implemented on the same day, is in “preparation” for the “retirement” of the online services for these games, which is set for 31st August....

Codemasters currently has numerous racing franchises on its books including F1, WRC, Dirt, Grid and Project Cars. EA, meanwhile, has Need for Speed, Burnout and Real Racing. Explaining why it was interested in Codemasters to investors last night, EA said the studio would help EA become the “global leader in racing entertainment”, with the ability to leverage the British developer’s game teams, technology and IP.
