It’s action-packed to the point where it’s incredibly easy to get fully immersed by the game world and its breath-taking set pieces. It perfectly utilises the PSVR’s motion controls in a way that makes every little interaction feel incredibly cool, and it trusts you as a player enough to give you the freedom to choose how you fight your own battles. The microtransactions in Gran Turismo Sport - released in a post-launch update - had players buying individual cars at a set price, with only those of a value up to 2 million in-game credits available for purchase. Gran Turismo 7, however, does away with that restriction and simply offers in-game currency for sale, starting at £1.99 for 100,000 credits all the way to £15.99 for 2,000,000 credits. It’s a particularly grim addition given that once you’ve rolled credits in Gran Turismo 7 the onus is on grinding out credits in races and events in order to purchase some of the more desirable cars....

This game has an amazing ability to make the world seem so much bigger than it actually is. Whilst confined to specific places and allowed to explore within their means, it is surprisingly good at making the game feel like an open world. There is still so much that needs exploring and so many goals that need completing. Even so, while the game is expansive, and it’s so easy to get lost in, it never feels overwhelming and anxiety inducing....

Alongside Grand Theft Auto 5’s quarterly rise, Take-Two’s updated numbers show a continuing boost for the GTA series as a whole, which has now sold over 370 million units - an increase of 15m since November. However, as the publisher opted not to share sales data for its much-maligned GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, it’s unclear how much the troubled remaster contributed to that remaining 10m figure - although CEO Strauss Zelnick did say the game had “significantly exceeded” the company’s commercial expectations....

Free for owners of the game, the campaign is expected to be a four to five hour experience and will be released on the Steam Workshop early Q3 of 2022. The biggest news is that the game’s next season has been delayed to March 2023. That’s an excruciatingly long time to wait. For context, Battlefield 2042, which released around the same time and also suffered delays, is also on Season 2, with the next Season planned for the end of this year. The bad news doesn’t end there, as split-screen local co-op has now been cancelled outright. “In order to improve and accelerate ongoing live service development, and to better address player feedback and quality of life updates, we have reallocated studio resources and are no longer working on local campaign split-screen co-op,” 343 said in an accompany development video....
