Then again, Blade of Darkness is a game suited to myth. The action RPG developed by defunct Spanish developer Rebel Act Studios has spent much of its existence trapped in a realm of legal limbo. But it has recently been unleashed from its copyright dungeon by publisher SNEG, relaunching on Steam with a slightly abridged title and some much-needed support for modern screens and machines. What’s most fascinating about this re-release, however, is the game’s Steam description, which reads “Blade of Darkness is a hardcore fantasy action-adventure with unique combat mechanics and role-playing elements that pioneered the ‘soulsborne’ genre”....

It’s a free upgrade for all existing players as well as a standalone release. It hits PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, and the App Store and Google Stadia from March 2021, and Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch from summer 2021. The headline addition is full voice acting (Disco Elysium has a lot of text to read!), but there are also new quests and unseen areas to explore....

Dying Light 2 has endured a rather tumultuous few years of development. It was announced at E3 2018 during the Xbox press conference by role-playing game writer and designer Chris Avellone, who later left the project following allegations of sexual assault. During Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference, Techland announced Dying Light 2 was set for launch spring 2020, but in January 2020 Dying Light 2 was delayed indefinitely....

First, let’s look at the situation on consoles. The performance metrics we saw in the game’s network test last year seem largely unchanged on PS5 and Series X. Both continue to offer two modes - a frame-rate mode and a quality mode. However, even running on the launch day patch 1.02, the frame-rate mode continues to run at a range of 45-60fps on PS5 and Series X, while the quality modes on each range between 30-60fps....

The Matrix’s iconic green text has been spotted lurking within Multiversus’ code by AisulMV, suggesting a debut for Neo and pals may be on the cards. The sequel to 2017’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, it was first announced at The Game Awards in 2019. Six minutes of gameplay footage was shown, with protagonist Senua leading an army against a titan invasion on a war-torn beach. Spoiler: it does not go well. It appears to have the first game’s elements of psychosis with voices in Senua’s head. The footage was in-game but was more cinematic than showing too much gameplay, though the facial expressions of Senua are phenomenal....

The video, below, shows off FIFA 23’s new gameplay features, some of which are exclusive to the current-gen versions of the game (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC and Google Stadia).
