The GTA 3 and Vice City reverse-engineering fan projects known as re3 and reVC were first hit by a DMCA takedown in February, with Rockstar parent company Take-Two claiming copyright infringement. The fan-created source code for both games was made available on GitHub, offering a raft of eye-catching improvements over the original games officially available to play today on PC. The game will arrive on 22nd September in Europe, with a console release across PlayStation and Xbox consoles set for 1st December. Season eight goes medieval, with feudal armour sets inspired by mythical warriors, Roman warriors and beyond. The season also brings a new map to Halo 3 based on an overhauled Halo 2 classic, and custom game support will be expanded to include Halo 1 and 3. While season eight will be the last official update to the MCC as the team focuses on Halo Infinite, 343 has pledged that the game will continue to be supported with quality of life improvements and occasional content updates....

I thought Halo 5: Guardians did a lot right, but I get the feeling 343 has tried to leave it behind as it plots out Halo’s future. Infinite is a spiritual reboot of the franchise, set chronologically after the controversial events of Halo 5, but taking inspiration from Bungie’s seminal Halo: Combat Evolved not just in gameplay feel, but in tone, aesthetic and setting. 343 has provided extended release notes on its website, but the key additions start with the aforementioned campaign network co-op, making it possible for up to four players to experience Halo Infinite’s campaign together. Crossplay between PC and Xbox devices is supported, and progress and unlocks are shared across all players, not just the host. To accompanying the arrival of campaign co-op, the developer has added 24 new achievements, many of which will require collaboration to complete....

Announced last October, few official details have so-far been shared about the project - currently in development at Skydance New Media, the studio Hennig set up in 2019 - beyond the fact it’ll be a “narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure” set in the Marvel universe. And while solid details are still hard to come by, today’s teaser trailer does appear to confirm rumours circling yesterday - understood to be true by Eurogamer - that Hennig’s game would be set in WW2, and see Captain America and Black Panther battling the forces of Hydra....

Yesterday’s official press release offered little information on the game itself, other than confirmation it would tell an original story featuring Indiana Jones at “the height of [his] career”. Now, fans reckon they can pinpoint where Jones will begin his journey, and in what year. Towards the end of the teaser we see a plane ticket to Rome lying on Jones’ desk, dated October 21st 1937. This would place the game chronologically just a year after Raiders of the Lost Ark, and a year before the events of Last Crusade....

The highlight here is Infinity Ward’s explanation for Modern Warfare 2’s divisive mini-map, which has come under fire from some players for failing to provide enough information on enemy players. Unlike some previous Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare 2’s mini-map only shows enemy player dots when a UAV is active. This means it does not display red dots when enemy players sprint or fire their weapons.
