Sony made the much-leaked project official tonight, as the opening announcement of its PlayStation Showcase livestream. As expected, and as Eurogamer previously reported, port studio Aspyr is on development duties. No in-game footage was shown, and there was no word on when we might see more. “Aspyr has assembled the very best talent from across the industry to create Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake - industry veterans who have worked on great RPGs, as well as some members of the original Knights of the Old Republic development team,” Aspyr wrote on the PlayStation blog....

Following last year’s impressive WRC 9 - a highlight of the PlayStation 5’s early line-up thanks to its brilliant use of DualSense feedback - WRC 10 introduces a more historic theme, celebrating 50 years of the World Rally Championship with classic cars and events such as Acropolis, San Remo, Argentina and Germany. It’ll also feature 19 events that look back at significant moments in the championship’s history. There’s new modern content too in the form of rallies in Estonia, Croatia, Belgium and Spain, plus a further tweaking to the handling dynamics and a deepening of the career mode with a feature that allows you to create your own team, complete with its own custom livery....

As reported by The Verge, tech writer Evan Blass tweeted a trio of images showing off the device ahead of a planned reveal from Logitech. The images were subsequently pulled offline following intervention from Logitech - but not before the internet noticed. Logitech, maker of PC and console accessories, teased the device at the beginning of August with the name Logitech G Gaming Handheld. It looks a lot like a Nintendo Switch: it comes in white, has shoulder buttons, two black thumb sticks, a D-pad and X, A, Y and B buttons on the right-hand side....

The video, posted to YouTube by Foulowe59, shows a montage of gameplay footage apparently filmed on Nintendo’s showfloor booth at E3 2005. According to industry soothsayers, 2022 will be the year of NFTs in videogames. In case you’ve somehow yet to have the pleasure, an NFT or non-fungible token is essentially a glorified IOU bought with a cryptocurrency, an unregulated and “decentralised” digital currency mostly created by having masses of computers do hard sums at staggering energy expense as “proof of work”, and stored on an online ledger called a blockchain. NFTs don’t give you exclusive access to the individual commodity they correspond to, just the right to self-identify as “owner”....

There’s much I like about the game, and much that piqued my interest, so I decided to delve into Fossil Corner and its origins by interviewing its spectacled, bearded, bald twentysomething solo developer/publisher....

The developer initially confirmed it was investigating ways to introduce expanded pronoun options to The Sims 4 last May - following a community petition signed by more than 22,000 people - and its first livestream of 2022 has now offered a substantial progress update, sharing insight on the development process and including a first look at how The Sims 4’s recently announced customisable pronouns feature will work in-game. As Sims 4 producer John Faciane explained during the livestream, Maxis’ aim with customisable pronouns is threefold: to introduce greater representation for transgender and non-binary players, to allow for greater freedom of expression for all players, and, ultimately, to create an experience that feels more welcoming and kind....

In a report by Embracer Group, the parent company announced Koch Media had seen strong sales across its gaming brands over the last quarter, citing: “The main revenue driver for the quarter was strong back catalogue performance, which exceeded management’s expectations”. Seagate already has a £200 1TB storage expansion card. The 512GB and 2TB cards will be available soon in all Xbox markets, Pamela Wang, from the Designed for Xbox team, said in a post on Xbox Wire. The 512GB card costs $140 in the US and launches mid-November. The 2TB card costs $400 in the US and launches early December. We expect UK pricing soon.
