Bulatao’s email began by suggesting conditions in the US were currently improving - despite the rising tide of new cases brought by the increasingly-dominant Omicron BA.2 subvariant, and the relatively low percentage of US citizens protected by a Covid booster dose....

The Extra Roles mod, made by Hunter101, adds four new roles to Among Us: a Medic, Officer, Engineer and Joker. The modding community for Spider-Man Remastered has been pretty active since the game’s release on PC last week, creating mods to change the pigeons into rats and all sorts of other fun character switches. However, one mod which caught attention has been more divisive. The mod in question replaced any Pride flags that appeared in the game with the US flag. Uploaded on 15th August to Nexus Mods, it was removed by site staff on 17th August....

Publisher Square Enix had originally planned each season to last three months, but now that’s been doubled. “Based on the feedback we have received from our players, we feel that we need a period to re-evaluate the game’s future operating roadmap”, according to a blog post from last Friday. “Season 2 will include the Ver. 1.2.1 small-scale update, but after that we will be using the extra three months of the season extension for development on the next update, and so will not be making any further updates or adding new content during that time....

EA’s newly announced offer runs alongside a similar early access event for EA Play Pro subscribers and anyone that’s pre-ordered the Gold or Ultimate editions of Battlefield 2042. I’ve delved back into the archives to see what Eurogamer’s thoughts were on Battlefield 4 at the time of release and, shockingly, it’s so far back that the game has actually been given a review score and not a badge. This is the first time the classical music festival has featured a concert dedicated to game music - something which has seemed a very long time coming. The event - titled Gaming Prom – From 8-Bit to Infinity - will be held on Monday, 1st August at the Royal Albert Hall and feature a new arrangement of music from Battlefield 2042 as originally composed by Hildur Guðnadóttir and Sam Slater, performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra....

I love the Great Grey Wolf Sif, and have fought alongside her. I have killed her five times across PC and Xbox 360, and the last was the one that mattered. With other Dark Souls bosses, I enjoy Summoning other players to help. But never with Sif. The fight is one that saddens me. It is a duel to be savoured, a consummation devoutly to be wished. Even the first time, before knowing much at all about Dark Souls, there was something special about Sif (the wolf’s gender is up for debate, incidentally)....

The $7.7m lawsuit was filed last year due to a number of false copyright takedowns sent to Destiny 2 players in March. In June the perpetrator was identified as Nicholas Minor a.k.a Lord Nazo. At the time, Bungie alleged that Minor launched a “malicious campaign to serve fraudulent takedown notices to some of the most prominent and passionate members of that fanbase, purportedly on Bungie’s behalf, in apparent retaliation for Bungie enforcing its copyrights against material Minor uploaded to his own YouTube channel”....

BattlEye was added to Destiny 2 last night as part of the game’s 3.3.0 update. Alongside this, Bungie published a security update blog detailing its arrival - and what it may mean for performance. “Anti-cheat solutions require some additional system resources to keep watch and you may see some reduction in frames and performance after Update 3.3.0 goes live,” Bungie wrote. “The new service will also increase the initial startup of the game....

Josh Bridge, Call of Duty live operations lead, was chatting to streamer TeeP about whether Warzone map rotation could be supported (spotted by PC Gamer). Warzone’s original Verdansk map was replaced in December 2021 by Caldera, but it seems map rotation won’t be implemented. “We want that. We all want that. There’s a technical problem. The install and reinstall sizes are f**king crazy,” said Bridge. At present, the game’s install on PS5 is over 120GB and similar on other consoles....

In an update post summarising the results of its (now-completed) investigation carried out with the help of specialist companies, Capcom said its internal systems are now “near to completely restored”. The attack had encrypted data on Capcom devices, and installed a message demanding Capcom contact the hacking group responsible. As for how the attack happened, Capcom explained that unauthorised access to the company’s internal network was acquired in October 2020 through an old backup VPN at Capcom USA....
