Marvel exec Bill Rosemann set the record straight as part of a GamesIndustry.biz interview, which comes after a succession of announcements for upcoming Iron Man, Black Panther and Wolverine games. “The world is, amazingly, very familiar and accepting of the multiverse,” Rosemann said. “We have all these different realities. The news, initially broken by The Verge, comes just a day after Sony said it would continue to manufacture new PS4 units in 2022 to help alleviate PS5 scarcity. “To focus on production of Xbox Series X/S, we stopped production for all Xbox One consoles by the end of 2020,” Xbox exec Cindy Walker confirmed in a brief statement. Yesterday, Sony said its plan to continue PS4 production this year would allow more customers to purchase a PlayStation in the immediate future....

Mojang’s Diablo-lite spin-off is surprisingly good fun, and well worth a bash on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One and Series S/X. It is, of course, also available via Xbox Game Pass. To celebrate the achievement, Mojang will release a free cape and pet - items usually reserved for DLC owners - as part of the game’s next update on 24th February. The Wild Update’s first major addition comes in the form of the new Mangrove Swamp biome, bringing mangrove trees and a new natural (and craftable) resource known as mud blocks. Developer Mojang has updated the character designs for both Steve and Alex for the first time in over a decade. The changes add extra 3D elements to both of their blocky models - and return Steve’s OG face fuzz. Steve’s beard was lost back in 2009, as part of a move to make Minecraft’s default skin more gender-neutral. It wasn’t until 2014 that the ponytailed Alex made an appearance. Curiously, while absent in-game, Steve’s beard continued to be shown in official Minecraft artwork over the years, and was also present when Steve popped up as a playable character in Super Smash Bros....

Named the Gaming Hardware (Automated Purchase and Resale) Bill 2019-21, the bill has been introduced to the House of Commons by Scottish National Party MP Douglas Chapman, who hopes to tackle console scalping in a similar manner to ticket touting. Over on Twitter, the official Nier Series account has confirmed that an “upgrade patch” for Steam is in development, and more information will be shared at a later date. The Steam version of Nier: Automata has famously struggled with performance and technical issues, and players have turned to community-made solutions such as Kaldaien’s “FAR” mod (Fix Automata Resolution) to solve these. After Nier: Automata was brought to Game Pass, some initially claimed that the Game Pass build was better than the Steam version, and this prompted players to review-bomb Nier: Automata on Steam....

This closure extends to in-game purchases made outside of the eShop app on these platforms, such as within the 3DS’ Nintendo Badge Arcade. Nintendo confirmed the date today, and reminded 3DS and Wii U owners that the 29th August 2022 deadline for adding eShop card funds was now approaching. The ability to redeem download codes for games will remain until 27th March 2023, however.
