Though signing up at Sony Direct secures neither you a PS5 nor even a definite chance to buy one, it’s nonetheless a lifeline for players who’ve been desperately trying to secure Sony’s next-gen system but have yet to do so. Right now it appears as though the deal is only available stateside, and is - predictably enough - restricted to one console per PSN ID. However, unlike the Steam Deck preorders, there’s seemingly no restriction on how old those accounts need to be, as if you don’t yet have a PSN ID, you can sign up for one as part of the process....

In an interview with PC Gamer, Newell said the company saw no need in “building a subscription service at this time”, stating “I don’t think it’s something that we need to do ourselves”. Appearing in the game on October 12th, these are additional free tiers in Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War’s Season 6 Battle Pass. Specifically, you’ll be unlocking two weapons - the STG 44 and M1 Garand. However, these are not explicitly named as such, since you are only getting Blueprints for the time being. That said, using them can give you a head start on their unlocks when Vanguard arrives - so if you’re planning on picking up the WW2 shooter, then it’s a good way to hit the ground running....

In typical From fashion, Elden Ring’s story is fragmented; the studio hasn’t changed its basic principle of providing players with an ambiguous narrative and a world they can choose to interpret for themselves. But it also feels like From was hinting that Elden Ring’s story would be perhaps more character-based than From’s previous titles, where most of the lore is gleaned offscreen from fragments and relics found after the fact, rather than seeing it played out in front of you....

Anyway, aside from me being a bit of an arse in search of a cheap ego boost (I will never play against my partner in Pictionary), I also love Bananagrams because it’s one of those games that is basically just another game, with a very small twist. I respect that a lot, and it’s the same deal with Wurdweb, which is basically just Bananagrams, which is basically just Scrabble, which is basically a crossword puzzle (kind of)....

The Sonic maker said the agreement would form “a key part of Sega’s mid to long-term strategy”, which it has dubbed “Super Game”. This initiative is designed to develop games “where the key focuses are ‘global’, ‘online’, ‘community’ and ‘IP utilisation’”, it said today. Sega first mentioned its “Super Game” project to investors back in May this year, when it dubbed the initiative a “priority strategy” for the next five years....

Lost Judgment is the sequel to 2018’s Judgment, and sees the return of protagonist Takayuki Yagami, an ex-defence-attorney turned private detective, for an possibly even more sprawling open-world adventure through Kamurocho and Isezaki Ijincho. Things take a darker turn this time, however, with a story of sexual assault, suicide and bullying centring around a school where much of the investigatory action takes place. Eurogamer’s Martin Robinson applauded the strength of developer RGG Studio’s typically activity packed open-world in his review, but felt Lost Judgment’s lurching tone struggled with the seriousness of its themes....

You’ll be playing as the purple-haired Shez, who can be male or female (the name can be changed too) and is on a quest to challenge The Ashen Demon. Shez can choose between three diverging paths based on the houses from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. There’s Scarlet Blaze (Edelgard), Azure Gleam (Dimitri), and Golden Wildfire (Claude), with the path chosen affecting story beats and playable characters. Speaking of which, the trailer shows off gameplay of Shez and other characters in battle....

Possibly a hard question to answer to start with: what is the biggest thing about accessibility design in games that a lot of people don’t understand or aren’t aware of? Matthew Gallant: Accessibility is orthogonal to difficulty. Providing a “very light” difficulty option may remove barriers for some players, but others want to play on “grounded” or with permadeath enabled. (Shout out to SightlessKombat!) Challenge and accessibility can coexist in harmony with the right design choices....
